Comparison of IPv4 and IPv6 – Infographic

The first version of the Internet Protocol was IPv4 and it is still the most-used version of protocols used. It being the main IP carries the vast majority of web traffic even today. IPv6 is a relatively new version that came to meet the demand for further IP addresses.

Full stop symbols separate bits in each IPv4 address, whereas colons separate the binary digits in the other version of the address. Both IP addresses are identifiers of networked devices, but these work in different ways. Here is a visual representation of the difference between both versions of IP based on many criteria.
